1.The 32nd Meeting of GST Council was concluded in New
Delhi. The Limit of annual turnover for composition scheme increased to 1.5
crore rupees effective from April 1, 2019. The Council has decided to increase
the GST registration threshold limit to 40 lakh rupees from 20 lakh.
2.The 11th edition of EIU Democracy Index 2018 was released by the Economist Intelligent Unit compiling the state of democracies in 167 countries in the world. In the list, Norway topped and India has slipped to 42nd place on the Economist Intelligence Unit's annual Global Democracy Index.
3.An agreement for Renukaji Dam Multipurpose Project was signed in New Delhi among the States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.It is to be constructed on the river Yamuna and two of its tributaries - Tons and Giri.
4.Union Cabinet has approved Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to six communities of Assam.The communities that are proposed to be extended ST status include, Koch Rajbongshi, Tai Ahom, Chutiya, Matak, Moran and the tea tribes.
5.Indian skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri has received the honorary membership of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) for their contribution to the sport of cricket.
6.Bihar left-arm spinner Ashutosh Aman broke the 44-year old record of most wickets in a single Ranji Trophy season by finishing the 2018-19 tournament.
7.Gujarat has become the first state to implement the 10% reservation for economically weaker sections of the general category. This comes a day after President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to the bill.
8.The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, received the first-ever Philip Kotler Presidential award, in New Delhi. The Award focuses on the triple-bottom-line of People, Profit, and Planet.
9.Bengaluru Raptors have won their first ever Premier Badminton League, PBL title. In the title clash played at Bengaluru.
10.Writer Namita Gokhale has won the Sushila Devi Literature Award for her novel "Things to Leave Behind". She was awarded in the 'Best Book of Fiction Written by a Woman Author' category at the inaugural edition of Bhopal Literature and Art Festival (BLF).
11.Army Day is observed on January 15 in India.It's 71st Army Day,

player D Gukesh became the second youngest Grand Master (GM) in the world and
the youngest Indian to achieve the feat at age of 12 years and 7 months.
13.In
Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Kamal Nath launched the Rs 50,000-crore farm
debt-waiver scheme named 'Jai Kisan Rin Mukti Yojana' on January 16,
2019.
14.Civil
Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the first-ever Global Aviation
Summit (GAS-2019) in Mumbai on January 15. The two-day summit, with
a theme 'Flying for all-especially the next 6 Billion'.
15.Shri
Yohei Sasakawa won the Gandhi Peace Prize for the year 2018 for his contribution
in Leprosy Eradication in India and across the world.
16.Abhinav
Shaw (10) has become the youngest gold medallist in shooting at the Khelo India
Youth Games 2019 in Pune.
17.The Ministry of Women
and Child Development is organising the three-day 6th‘Women of India
Organic Festival’ in Chandigarh, to celebrate and promote women farmers and
entrepreneurs in the organic sector from the remotest parts of India.

has announced the One family one job scheme to provide employment to the
youth of Sikkim.
19.First Odisha
Turtle Festival was held recently in Puri to create awareness and
promote ideas on conservation of olive ridley turtles.Odisha has half of the world’s Olive Ridley
turtle population and 90% of India’s turtle population lives in the state.
20.Prime
Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated a project for the development
of spiritual
circuit comprising three important pilgrimage centres of Sree Padmanabha Swamy
Temple, Aranmula and Sabarimala in Kerala.
21.India-Myanmar
bilateral army exercise. IMBEX 2018-19, is being held in Haryana. It
is the
second edition of the IMBEX.
22.The
traffic police authorities of Pune are planning to introduce a robot named
‘Roadeo’ which would move around city roads, functioning as a quasi-traffic
policeman and cautioning commuters about traffic rules and offences.
23.The
Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has given itsapproval for the
Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project of Telangana.It aims to divert Godavari river water to irrigated areas.
