1.Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of skill development implemented new reforms for Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) to enhance skill ecosystem and entrepreneurship in most of the remotest areas of India under centre's flagship programme Skill India at the National Conference for Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSSs) in New Delhi.

3.On 26th January 2019, President Ramnath Kovind conferred the Bharat Ratna, the nation’s highest civilian honour, on former President Pranab Mukherjee,along with social activist Nanaji Deshmukh (posthumous), and Assamese musician Bhupen Hazarika (posthumous).

4.India's fastest indigenous train which will run from Delhi to Varanasi has been named as Vande Bharat Express. Its previous name was Train 18. 

5.The Governor of Mizoram Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan launched the Voters Helpline Number - 1950 and mobile app for people with disabilities on the occasion of National Voters Day. 

6.Kartik Sharma from India has won the New South Wales men's Amateur Golf Championship in Australia.He had been selected to represent Indian Golf Union for three events in Australia.

7.The Government of Pakistan has recently declared sugarcane juice as the 'national drink' of the country.

8.Novak Djokovic from Serbia defeated Rafael Nadal to win his 7th Australian Open Men's Singles title at Melbourne on 28th January 2019.

9.On 27th January 2019, Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal won her first Indonesia Masters title after three-time world champion Carolina Marin of Spain.

10.In commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi dedicated grand and iconic 'National Salt Satyagraha Memorial' constructed by the Central Public Works Department at Dandi, Gujarat to the Nation.

11.Transparency International has released the Global Corruption Index 2018. India rose by 3 points to 78 in the list of 180 countries in the world with a score of 41.  The top countries on the list are Denmark and New Zealand.

12.Narthaki Nataraj, a renowned dancer from Tamil Nadu, has become the first Indian transgender to be honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India, She is a Bharatanatyam exponent and specialises in the Thanjavur-based Nayaki Bhava tradition. 

13.Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Atal Setu — the third Cable bridge across river Mandovi in Panaji, Goa.

14.Tamil Nadu was declared the ‘Best State Overall’ for its active participation in the national campaign ‘Swasth Bharat Yatra’. The campaign was a 100 day consumer outreach programme of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI),

16.UNESCO has declared 2019 as the International Year of the Period Table of Chemical Elements to commemorate the 150th birthday of the periodic table of chemical elements. 

17.Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has recently announced to launch "Jiban Sampark" project in partnership with UNICEF to reach vulnerable tribes of the state.The announcement was made at the annual tribal fair popularly known as "Adivasi Mela" on 70th Republic Day 2019.

18.India’s second Tulip garden will be set up in Pithoragarh district at a cost of Rs 50 crore. First one is located in Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir.

19.Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has given his approval for the Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2014, providing reservation to the persons belonging to Pahari community of the State. 

20.Two trained elephants will be used to patrol Odisha’s Satkosia Tiger Reserve. The two elephants are being brought from the Similipal Tiger Reserve for tiger reintroduction programme in Satkosia.

21.The Delhi government has decided to introduce Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers based on the report of the MS Swaminathan Commission.

22.India has replaced Japan as the world’s second-largest steel producing country, only behind China, which is the largest producer of crude steel.

23.The ICAR has recently launched Rs 1100 crore ambitious National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP).Funded by the World Bank , It is to attract talent and strengthen higher agricultural education in the country.

24.The central banks of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia have launched a common digital currency called ‘Aber’, which will be used in financial settlements between the two countries through Blockchains and Distributed Ledgers technologies.
