1.External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj launched 'India for Humanity' initiative in New Delhi. It is a part of 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi being held over the next one year.

2.Jharkhand announced to be the partner state in Goa International Film Festival 2018 which will be held on 20th to 28th of November, 2018. 

3.Since 2012, 11 October has been marked as the International Day of the Girl. The theme for International Day of the Girl Child 2018 is 'With Her: A Skilled Girl Force'.

4.Governor of Odisha Prof Ganeshi Lal laid the foundation stone on country's first 58-acre Second Generation (2G) Ethanol Bio-Refinery plant at Baulsingha village in Bargarh district of Odisha. This was announced in the presence of Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan. 

5.Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has been appointed as the new Solicitor General of India. Solicitor General is the second highest ranking law officer of the government after the Attorney General.

6.The national program of Wild Life Week concluded at the National Zoological Park in New Delhi. Wildlife Week is observed every year from October 2 to 8.Wildlife Week is celebrated since 1952

7.Sikkim has become the pioneer in organic farming. This achievement has made it world's first totally organic agriculture State in India. UNFAO has shortlisted Sikkim for the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation's (FAO) Future Policy Award.

8.The World Bank released the Human Capital Index (HCI) as part of the World Development Report 2019. Singapore topped the list.India was ranked at the 115th position.Theme for the World Development Report (WDR) 2018: “The Changing Nature of Work”.

9.The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) signed an MoU with the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) in Jammu for setting up of the Satish Dhawan Center for Space Science in the University.

10.Javelin thrower Sandeep Chaudhary has clinched India’s first gold medal at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Para Games with a best throw of 60.01m in Indonesia on October 8, 2018. On October 9, Weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga from Mizoram has scripted history by clinching India’s first-ever gold at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

11.The Haryana government has decided to set up an Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) ‘Kavach’ to strengthen the present-day security arrangements in the state.

12.Cyclonic storm ‘TITLI’ has hit the Bay of Bengal and another cyclonic storm ‘LUBAN’ has hit the Arabian sea.

13.‘MedWatch’ is an innovative mobile health App launched by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to provide health information to the users, including first-aid and other health and nutritional topics. It is the first mobile health app in the three Armed Services.

14.Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a clarification to the Government of Assam on the citizenship status of members of the Gorkha Community living in the State as per the Foreigners Act, 1946.

15.The 2018 Global Hunger Index report has been released. India has been ranked at 103 out of 119 countries in the Global Hunger Index 2018.

 1.The Hampi chariot is one among the three famous stone chariots in India, the other two being in Konark, Odisha, and Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. It was the last capital of the last great Hindu Kingdom of Vijayanagar.It was a part of the Mauryan Empire back in the third century BC. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. 2.
