1.Ibrahim Mohamed Solih won the Maldive's presidential
election on 24th September 2018. He defeated Maldives President Abdulla Yameen.
2.Luka
Modric broke a decade of award dominance by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
after being crowned world footballer of the year by FIFA. Modric beat out
Liverpool's Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and Ronaldo.
3.Indian
actress Jaya Prada appointed goodwill ambassador for Nepal tourism.She is also
a former Member of Parliament.
4.Hyderabad
Metro Rail (HMR) has now become second largest metro rail network in India. It
is also the world's largest metro project under the public-private-partnership
(PPP) model. The Hyderabad metro now has an operational network of 45 km.
5.Prime
Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded with the UN's highest environmental
honour, also given to five other individuals and organisations, for his
leadership of the International Solar Alliance and pledge to eliminate single
use plastic by 2022. Cochin International Airport was given the
award for its leadership in the use of sustainable energy.
6.25th
September is observed as Antyodaya Diwas every year to mark the birth anniversary
of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.Each of these team will work on Open Defecation
Free activities in their villages. 22 States and UTs have been declared Open
Defecation Free so far.
7.The
Indian Air Force successfully test fired the indigenously developed Beyond
Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile Astra from a Su-30 aircraft.Astra, deemed to be
the best in the class weapon system, has undergone more than 20 developmental
trials.
8.World
Tourism Day is observed every year globally on 27th September. "Tourism
and the Digital Transformation" is the theme of this year's World Tourism
Day (WTD). Hungary is the host country for this year's WTD.
9.India
will organise 'Gandhi March' from the iconic Peace Palace at the Hague in the
Netherlands. October 2 is also marked as International Day of
Non-Violence.
10.The first-ever women-only foreign minister
conference was held in Montreal, Canada on September 21-22, 2018 . The aim of
the conference was to highlight women’s key role in politics and
decision-making processes.
11.Andhra Pradesh has
topped the charts among States in terms of “2018 Ease of Living Index” rankings
launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Odisha and Madhya
Pradesh bagged second and third best performing awards.
12.Dr Harsh Vardhan
has inaugurated air pollution control device – Wind Augmentation Purifying Unit
(WAYU) at ITO in New Delhi to mitigate air pollution at traffic junctions.

(UN) has recently declared the period from 2019 to 2028 as the Nelson Mandela
Decade of Peace at the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit in New York on 24
September 2018.
14.The Union Cabinet
has approved the National Digital Communication Policy (NDCP) 2018 which aims
to provide universal broadband connectivity at 50 megabit per second (MBPS) to
every citizen.
15.Nepal is set to become the first country in the world to double its
tiger population as
part of the World Wildlife Foundation’s (WWF) ‘Tx2’ programme which aims to
double the number of tigers all over the world.
16.Department of
Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance will release an Annual Financial
Inclusion Index (FII). The Index will have three measurement
dimensions:

Access to financial services.
2.
Usage of financial services.
3.
Quality.
