1.Recently, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched the 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Nestham' scheme in Amaravati. According to the scheme, an amount of Rs. 1000 will be given as monthly unemployment allowance to eligible jobless youth of the state.

2.India launched 'Operation Samudra Maitri' in Central Sulawesi Province of the Republic of Indonesia to provide massive humanitarian assistance to the earthquake and tsunami victims in Indonesia. 

3.UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) conferred 2018 Nansen Refugee Award to Dr. Evan Atar Adaha in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Evan Atar Adaha is a surgeon from South Sudan. He was awarded for his 20-year medical service to refugees of Sudan and South Sudan.

4.The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in its Trade and Development Report predicted the GDP growth of India for 2018 to be at 7%. Previously in 2017, it was 6.2%. According to the report.

5.The Union Cabinet approved the setting up of the National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation (NIMHR) in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh. The NIMHR at Madhya Pradesh will be the first of its kind in India in the area of mental health rehabilitation

6.India beat Sri Lanka by 144 runs to clinch the Under-19 Asia Cup 2018 title in Dhaka. 

7.Lewis Hamilton wins Japanese grand prix, leads Formula One title race by 67 points over Sebastian Vettel.

8.India celebrates its 86th Air Force Day on 8th October 2018. President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated the valiant air warriors of IAF on its 86th anniversary. IAF is the fourth largest air force in the world, after the United States, Russia and China. 

9.The 4th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF - 2018) has started at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The mega science expo will be formally inauguratedby the President Shri Ram NathKovind. It is being organized by Ministry of Science and Technology.The theme of this edition of Science Festival is "Science for Transformation".

10.ndian Post released a Rs. 5 stamp to honour NGO Narayan Seva Sansthan. The logo features the Udaipur based NGO and its polio hospital. The Objective of the launch was to honour and showcase the organisation's work for differently-abled and underprivileged individuals.

11.National Dolphin Research Centre (NDRC), India's and Asia's first such centre would be soon opened on the banks of river Ganga river in the Patna University premises, Bihar. It has been set up to safeguard the endangered Gangetic river dolphin. 

12.As per the IMF's latest report, India is projected to grow at 7.3% in 2018 and 7.4% in 2019. The report predicted India to regain the tag of the world's fastest-growing major economy this year, crossing China with more than 0.7 percentage points. 

13.The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2018 to William D. Nordhaus "for integrating climate change into long-run macroeconomic analysis" and Paul M. Romer.

14.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has kept all key policy rates unchanged in its fourth bi-monthly monetary policy review submitted on on October 5, 2018.The repo rate unchanged at 6.5% and the reverse repo rate at 6.25%. Repo rate is the rate at which RBI lends to banks, while the reverse repo is  the rate at which RBI borrows money from banks. Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate too were kept at 6.75%.

15.In Assam, the Namrup-based Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL) rolled out Asia’s first cannisters based and India’s first “Methanol Cooking Fuel Program on 5th October 2018. The project has been promoted by NITI Aayog.

16.Tababi Devi Thangjam becoming the India’s first judoka to win a medal at the Olympics – junior or senior in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

17.The bilateral maritime exercise “JIMEX 18” has started between Japan and India at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on October 7.

18.Dr. Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad have jointly been awarded the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize. They were given award for their efforts to end use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.
