1.The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has announced new ranking system - named Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) - for higher educational institutions to promote culture of innovation and research in higher education at AICTE in New Delhi. 

2.Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the Fourth International Ayurveda Congress (IAvC) at the Netherlands.  A special Seminar is also organized by the Indian Embassy titled "India-Netherlands collaboration in Healthcare, including Ayurveda".

3.Indian economy grew by 8.2% in the first quarter (April-June) of the current fiscal, the highest in over two years. This announcement was made by Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley. The manufacturing sector grew by 13.5% which signals very good turnaround in the sector.

4.Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) made public 13 standardised advanced ship designs suitable for large barge haulage on river Ganga (National Waterway-1). The Government is implementing Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP) for capacity enhancement of navigation on NW-1 (Varanasi-Haldia stretch) at a cost of Rs 5369.18 crore.

5.The Indian boxer Amit Panghal bagged gold at the Asian Games 2018 by defeating Hasanboy Dusmatov. He had won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year and a bronze at Asian Championships last year.

6.Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan introduced the 'National REDD+ Strategy India' for the implementation of the REDD+ strategy.REDD+ means "Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation".his has been constituted in line with India's National Action Plan on Climate Change, Green India Mission and India's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to UNFCCC. 

7.NITI Aayog will organise MOVE: India's First Global Mobility Summit 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 7. The aim of the summit is to showcase innovation and build a platform to shape the future of mobility.

8.The state government of Assam sought extension under Section 3 Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) for another 6 months declaring entire state as 'Disturbed Area'. This Act will be in continuation till the National Register of Citizen (NRC) is updated.

9.Dr. Basant Kumar Mishra from Odisha has been named for prestigious Dr B.C. Roy National Award for year 2018 as Eminent Medical Person of the Year. It is the highest medical honour of India, which will be given away by President Ram Nath Kovind on July 1, 2019.

10.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated a 400-bed Nepal-Bharat Maitri Pashupati Dharamshala in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is a rest house for pilgrims, which is located on the banks of the Bagmati River.

11.unil Mehta, the MD &chief executive of Punjab National Bank (PNB), has been elected as the new chairman of the Indian Banks Association (IBA) for 2018-19.The IBA is a representative body of management of banking in India and has its headquarters in Mumbai.

12.Pranab Bardhan (60) and Shibnath Sarkar (56) have created history by clinching India’s first-ever gold in bridge at the Asian Games.The card game has been featured as a sport at the Asian Games for the first time, in the 2018 edition.

13.India ended their Asian Games 2018 campaign with the highest medal tally at the tournament ever, with a total of 69 medals which includes 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze medals.

14.In the UEFA Awards, Croatia captain Luka Modric was voted the best player in Europe.The best women's player award was won by Pernille Harder of Denmark and Wolfsburg. Best goalkeeper of the season was: Keylor Navas.

15.Commerce & Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu attended the 6th East Asia Summit- Economic Ministers' Meeting (EAS-EMM) and 15th India-ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting (AEM) in Singapore. Singapore is currently holding the Chair of ASEAN.
