1.The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched a
new web portal 'Budget Dashboard', incorporating features of Ministry of AYUSH
and Department of Health Research. It will have information on budget,
expenditure and Bill Payment position.
2.Sakshi Malik settled for a Silver medal at the Medved
International Wrestling tournament at Minsk, Belarus last night. In the Final
of the 62 kg category, Sakshi lost to Hungary's Marianna Sastin.
3.Saudi Arabia is to join as the third strategic partner of
the $50 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The CPEC is the
flagship project of the multi-billion dollar Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a
project of Chinese President Xi Jinping. It aimed at enhancing Beijing's
influence around the world through China-funded infrastructure projects.
4.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a new airport
at Jharsuguda odisha,The airport has been developed under the Centre's UDAN
scheme.
5.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched Ayushman Bharat -
Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Under this scheme,
over 10 crore families will be provided health assurance worth five lakh rupees
each, every year.This is the world's largest government-funded healthcare
program targeting more than 50 crore beneficiaries.
6.Tran Dai Quang (61), the
current President of Vietnam, has passed away in Hanoi on September 21, 2018.
Quang was appointed to the role in April 2016.
7.The
first-ever General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) will be
held at Delhi-NCR from 2nd October 2018.The India and France-led ISA —
international treaty-based alliance of 121 solar-rich nations — had become a
legal entity in December 2017.
8.President
Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the centenary celebrations of the Dakshina Bharat
Hindi Prachar Sabha (DBHPS) in New Delhi.It was established in 1918 by Mahatma
Gandhi.
9.Assamese
movie “Village Rockstars” has been chosen to represent India in the Best
Foreign Language category at the 91st Academy Awards 2019. It also won the
Best Feature film Award at the 65th National Film Awards.
10.Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated
the Pakyong Airport in Sikkim on September 24, The airport is the hilly state's
first and only airport.
11.(ISRO) has chosen veteran scientist Dr VR Lalithambika to
head its Gaganyaan mission to put an Indian in space by 2022.
12.Andhra Pradesh has topped the charts among States in terms
of "Ease of Living Index" rankings launched by the Ministry of
Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). It was followed by Odisha and Madhya
Pradesh.
13.NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS)
has discovered two new earth-like exoplanets namely: "super-Earth"
and "hot Earth".TESS was launched in April 2018 to detect exoplanets
(planets outside the sun's solar system).
14.Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently rolled out the
Centre’s flagship scheme — Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan, also known as
Ayushman Bharat or the National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM). It is
the National Health Protection Scheme, which will cover over 10 crore poor
vulnerable families (around 50 crore beneficiaries) providing coverage of up to
₹5 lakh (per family
per year) for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.
15.NASA’s MAVEN spacecraft has beamed back a selfie to mark
its four years orbiting Mars and studying the upper atmosphere of the red
planet.The MAVEN mission was launched on November 18, 2013.It was
launched to study the Martian atmosphere while orbiting Mars.
16.The centre will soon issue a fresh draft notification
declaring Western Ghats as an eco-sensitive area (ESA) with all but one of the
six affected states on board karnataka. An ESA is one that is protected by
the government given the sheer number of species, plants and animals endemic to
the region.
17.Tamil Nadu government has announced a novel scheme for the
protection of the exotic Neela kurinji (Strobilanthus kunthianus) plants that
flower only once in 12 years.It is a shrub that is found in the shola
forests of the Western Ghats in South India.
