1.National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development
(NABARD) has sanctioned Rs 335 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development
Fund (RIDF) to West Bengal. The fund was allotted in August 2018. It will be
used for 158 minor irrigation projects and 23 flood protection projects.
2.Arif Alvi is elected as the President of Pakistan. He is a
close ally of Prime Minister Imran Khan and one of the founding members of the
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
3.Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela became the first set of
Indian shooters to secure quota places for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Moudgil
finished 2nd on the podium and won a silver in the women's 10m air rifle event
of the ISSF's World Championship 2018 in Changwon, South Korea on September 3.
4.The Government of India
(GoI) has provided first-ever financial support to International sporting event
'Kho Kho' at the First International Kho Kho Championship in England from 1st
to 4th September, 2018,
5.BSNL
has roped in Indian boxer M.C.Mary Kom as its brand ambassador for two years. Mary
Kom will endorse and be engage in promotional activities of BSNL for its
various services.
6.India
to buy 18 bullet trains from Japan for Rs 7,000 crore. Each train will have 10
coaches and would be able to cruise at the speed of 350 km per hour. Purpose:-
To launch India's first bullet train by 2022.National High-Speed Rail
Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) will be responsible for executing the project of
the high-speed train corridor.
7.The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently introduced Internal Ombudsman (IO)
scheme 2018 to tighten internal grievance redressal system at Scheduled
Commercial Banks (SCBs). In it, RBI has given statutory powers to Internal
Ombudsman (IO) under section 35 A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
8. The first round of the ‘two-plus-two
dialogue’ between India and the US will be held in New Delhi on September
6. Both sides will discuss the long-pending Communications, Compatibility,
Security Agreement “COMCASA”. It will help India obtain critical and encrypted
defence technologies for Indian defence platforms from the US.
9.India has recently signed five pacts with Bulgaria in the
fields of Civil Nuclear cooperation, Investment, Tourism, Science &
Technology (S&T) and establishment of Hindi chair at Sofia University, after
delegation level talks between President Ram Nath Kovind and his counterpart
Rumen Radev.
10.The Indo-Kazakhstan joint Army exercise ‘KAZIND 2018’ will
be conducted between the Indian and Kazakhstan Army from 10 to 23 Sep 2018 in
Otar region, Kazakhstan.
11.India and France has recently signed an agreement to
collaborate on ISRO’s first human spaceflight programme “Gaganyaan”. The
aim of the Gaganyaan mission is to send a 3-member crew to space for a period
of 5 to 7 days by 2022.
12.The joint maritime naval exercise “SLINEX-2018” will be
held between Indian & Sri Lankan navy at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka from
September 7 to 13.
13.The
Government is celebrating the month of September,
2018 as the National Nutrition Month under the Poshan
Abhiyan.POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) was launched on 8th March,
2018.
14.The government has launched Coffee Connect
– India coffee field force app and Coffee Krishi Tharanga – digital mobile
extension services for coffee stakeholders.
15.The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned the
project“Development
of Rural Circuit: Malanad Malabar Cruise Tourism Project’ in Kerala (Kannur) under Swadesh Darshan Scheme .It
started based ontourist circuits
in the country. It is 100% centrally funded.
16.The
Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved continuation of the Centrally
Sponsored Umbrella Scheme of Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats
(CSS-IDWH) beyond the 12thPlan period from 2017-18 to
2019-20. It contains Project Tiger, Development of Wildlife Habitats
(CSS-DWH) and Project Elephant. It gives Support
to Protected Areas (National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Conservation Reserves
and Community Reserves).
