1.The Delhi government has signed a "Friendship and
Cooperation Agreement" with the Seoul Metropolitan Government under which
the two cities would exchange expertise for betterment in 12 fields including
environment, transport, tourism, solid waste management and public health.
2.(ISRO) successfully launched PSLV C 42 with two British
earth observation satellites NovaSAR and S1-4 in precision from the Sathish
Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.NovaSAR
is intended to be used for forest mapping, land use and ice cover monitoring,
flood & disaster monitoring.S1-4 will be used for surveying resources,
environment monitoring, urban management and disaster monitoring.
3.Punjab National Bank (PNB) bagged the "Rajbhasha
Kirti" award for outstanding performance in implementing the Official
Language Policy during 2017-18. The award was given on the occasion of Hindi
Diwas (15th September).
4.According to the 14th report "HIV Estimations
2017" released by Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Maharashtra has the
highest number of people living with HIV in India. It was compiled by the
National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO).Other states with high prevalence of
PLHIV are: Andhra Pradesh (2.70 lakh), Karnataka (2.47 lakh) and Telangana
(2.04 lakh), Lowest adult HIV prevalence was in Jammu & Kashmir.
5.All-women crew of INSV Tarini has bagged the prestigious
Tenzing Norgay National Adventure award for beating the odds in water with
their enduring skills and sailing across the world for eight long
months. The award is the highest national recognition for outstanding
achievements in the field of adventure on land, sea and air.
6.The Indian Coast Guard observed International Coastal
Cleanup-2018 day on September 15 in Mumbai. The International Coastal Clean-up
day is observed in various parts of the world on 3rd Saturday of September
every year. It is organized under the guidance of United Nations Environment
Program (UNEP) and South Asia Co-operative Environment Program in the South
Asian Region.
7.Germany launched the world's first hydrogen-powered
train. Countries including Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway,
Italy and Canada are planning to introduce the pollution free hydrogen trains.
8.PayU India has received Reserve Bank of India's (RBI)
approval to operate its own non-banking financial company
(NBFC). It will help PayU promote inclusive growth in the country by
catering to the diverse financial needs of various segments of the society.
9. Hangzhou in China will host the fourth edition of
Asian Para Games in 2022.
10.ISRO has recently
launched Polarimetry Doppler Weather Radar at sreeharikota.The Doppler
Weather Radar (DWR) is used for the observation of the weather system up to a
range of 500 km and helps in early warning of severe weather.It
uses S–band frequency
band.
11.Recently, Indian
Mountaineers Satyarup Siddhanta and Mousumi Khatua created history by climbing
Asia’s highest volcanic peak Mount Damavand in Iran. The expedition team
comprised of 3 members – Siddhanta, Mousumi and Bhaswati Chatterjee.
12.‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ movement has been
launched across the country on September 15, 2018.Swachhata Hi Seva movement
aims to ensure a high standard of cleanliness across the country.
13.India’s first ‘smart fence’ pilot project has been launched along the India-Pakistan
International Border in Ploura, Jammu and Kashmir. The pilot project involves deploying of
laser-activated fences and technology-enabled barriers to plug vulnerable gaps
along the frontiers.
