1.The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 3-day Defence & Homeland Security Expo and Conference - 2018, organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in New Delhi. 

2.The Telangana State Cabinet has recommended the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly. The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet that was chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

3.Google launched a new search engine called 'Dataset Search', which works in multiple languages, to help scientists, data journalists and others find data required for their work.

4.In a landmark judgement on September 6, the Supreme Court of India (SCI) struck down Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and decriminalized homosexuality. IPC Section 377 came into force in 1861 during the British rule of India.

5.Recently, the Delta Force has celebrated its 25th Raising Day on September 6 in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. It is the counter insurgency force of the Indian Army.

6.The Indian Navy has won the coveted KAKADU Cup 2018 in Australia while taking part in the KAKADU multilateral maritime exercise. It was held in the coast of Darwin with 3000 personnel from 27 countries. From the Indian side INS Sahyadri took part on the exercise.

7.A book named "Experiential Learning - Gandhiji's Nai Talim" (basic education) was released by Union Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar, on the occasion of National Teachers' Day. It is launched in 13 languages.

8.International Literacy Day, celebrated annually on 8 September, is an opportunity for Governments, civil society and stakeholders to highlight improvements in world literacy rates, and reflect on the world's remaining literacy challenges. This year's theme is 'Literacy and skills development'.

9.The Chagos Archipelago (or Chagos Islands) is a group of 7 atolls consists of more than 60 individual tropical islands in the Indian Ocean. The sovereignty over the Islands is disputed between Mauritius and the United Kingdom (UK). Recently, it is in news because India has supported Mauritius in International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the issue of de-colonisation of the Chagos Archipelago.

10.Indian sprinter Hima Das has been officially named as the Sports Ambassador of Assam for her recent achievements in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and IAAF World U-20 Championship 2018.

11.India and France have signed an implementation agreement on “MOBILISE YOUR CITY” (MYC) programme.It is a global climate initiative for integrated urban mobility planning, and one of 15 international transport initiatives of the UN Global Climate Action Agenda (GCAA).

12.Iran will handover the strategic Chabahar port to an Indian company within a month for operation as per an interim pact. Iran’s Chabahar port is located on the Gulf of Oman and is the only oceanic port of the country. The port gives access to the energy-rich Persian Gulf nations’ southern coast and India can bypass Pakistan with the Chabahar port becoming functional.
