1.World Refugee Day is held on 20th June to commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees.theme for World Refugee Day 2018 is 'Now More Than Ever, We Need to Stand with Refugees'. World Refugee Day was established by the United Nations on December 4, 2000.

2.Punjab govt launched a mobile app named "i-Hariyali" under 'Mission Tandarust' to offer free saplings for users. The users can book a sapling of their choice, a maximum of 25 per person, from a nearby government nursery.

3.The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar has launched the new digital initiative of HRD Ministry 'National Digital Library of India' (NDL) on the occasion of National Reading Day in New Delhi.It is a project of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) under the aegis of National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT).The NDLI, which is developed by IIT Kharagpur.

4.US scientists have unveiled the world's most powerful and smartest scientific supercomputer named "Summit" that can complete over 200,000 trillion calculations per second. This supercomputer called Summit will be eight times more powerful than its previous top-ranked system, Titan.

5.Anukreethy Vas, a 19-year-old Tamil Nadu college student, has been crowned Femina Miss India 2018 in a grand ceremony in Mumbai.

6.India is planning to gift a Dornier aircraft to Seychelles and explore trilateral cooperation involving France.This would safeguard the interests due to refusal of Seychelles on Assumption Island. Dornier aircraft is second such aircraft that could be gifted to the Indian Ocean Region. 

7.U.S. based ride hailing firm Uber has appointed Pradeep Parameswaran as new President of India and South Asia.

8.The conference “National Consultation on Making Agriculture Sustainable and Profitable’ will be inaugurated by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in Pune, Maharashtra on June 21, 2018. Agriculture experts and agri-economists at the conference will deliberate upon creating an enabling policy framework, agricultural trade policy, transfer of technology from labs to land and agricultural credit and insurance.

9.A R Rahman, the renowned music composer, has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador of the Sikkim government. He will promote and project the state’s achievements nationally and globally.besides attaining a distinct identity as the first fully organic farming state of the country.

10.Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has tightened norms for Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) by making quoting of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) mandatory even for transactions below $25,000.Under the LRS, all resident individuals, including minors, are allowed to freely remit up to 2,50,000 US dollar per financial year for any permissible current or capital account transaction or a combination of both. 

11.The world’s first 'International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics' was launched at Gandhinagar in Gujarat on June 20, 2018. It is a joint venture of the Regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in India, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives and also Gujarat Forensic Science University.
