1.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the draft
guidelines to modify the loan system for delivery of bank credit, making the
rules stricter to regulate larger borrowers enjoying working capital facility
from the banking system. The draft specifies a minimum level of loan component
in fund based working capital finance and a mandatory Credit Conversion Factor
(CCF) for the undrawn portion of cash credit availed of by large borrowers.
2.USA government approved a deal to sell the Indian military
six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for 930 million dollars.In addition to
aircraft, the contract includes night vision sensors, GPS guidance and hundreds
of Hellfire anti-armour and Stinger air-to-air missiles.
3.Ten new iconic sites have been taken up under Phase III of
the flagship project Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The project envisioned by the Prime Minister is being coordinated by Ministry
of Drinking Water and Sanitation with the support of State governments and
local administration. The
sites are Raghavendra Swamy Temple (Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh); Hazardwari Palace
(Murshidabad, West Bengal); Brahma Sarovar Temple (Kurukshetra, Haryana); Vidur
Kuti (Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh); Mana village (Chamoli, Uttarakhand); Nagvasuki
Temple (Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh); and Kanvashram (Uttarakhand). Besides
Pangong Lake (Leh-Ladakh, J&K), ImaKeithal/market (Imphal, Manipur) and
Sabarimala Temple (Kerala).
4.The 2nd edition of India-US colloquium on Earth
Observations and Sciences for Society and Economy was inaugurated at the
CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Dona Paula, Goa on June 11,
2018. The 3-day colloquium is being organised by the Ministry of Earth Sciences,
CSIR-NIO and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA).
5.Young long-distance runner Gavit Murali Kumar bagged a gold
in men's 10,000-metre race at the Gouden Spike meeting in Leiden, The
Netherlands. The 21-year-old Kumar, hailing from Gujarat, clocked a personal
best of 28 minutes 43.34 seconds.
6.India
hosted the 10th meeting of Global Alliance to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis
(GAELF) in New Delhi with theme ‘Celebrating progress towards elimination:
Voices from the field on overcoming programme challenges’ on June 13,
2018.Elephantiasis is one of the oldest and most debilitating neglected
disease, which is currently endemic in 73 countries of the world, including
India.
7.Indian
boxers bagged one Gold and two Silver medals at the Umakhanov Memorial
Tournament in the Russian city of Kaspiysk. Saweety Boora won the coveted
yellow metal in the Women's 75 kg category after beating Anna Anfinogenova
(Russia) in the Final.
8.The
International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will
be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from June 17. The theme of two day conference is
“Sustainable Development Goals for Smart Society ”.
9.KVIC
(Khadi and Village Industries Commission) has created a world record of
distributing maximum number of bee-boxes in one day. It is an apex
organization under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, with
regard to khadi and village industries within India, which seeks to – “plan,
promote, facilitate, organise and assist in the establishment and development
of khadi and village industries in the rural areas in coordination with other
agencies engaged in rural development wherever necessary.”
10.India has extended a financial aid of about Rs 10 crore to
Nepal for the construction of 2,700 shallow tube well irrigation systems to
boost agricultural productivity.The assistance has been extended as part of the
final payment for the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Irrigation Project. The project
was launched in January last year to boost growth to the Himalayan nation’s
agricultural sector through enhanced facilities.
