1.Russian state atomic
energy corporation Rosatom said that its subsidiary Nikiret has signed an
agreement with Indian engineering services firm Core Energy Systems Pvt Ltd for
the promotion of its technical security equipment in India. the
partnership will explore opportunities in the Indian government's Comprehensive
Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS) project.
2.R Praggnanandhaa made
history by becoming the 2nd youngest chess grandmaster in the world by earning
his 3rd GM norm during Gredine Open. Praggnanandhaa who is just 12 years, 10
months and 14 days old is also the youngest Indian Grandmaster.
3.The annual London
Indian Film Festival (LIFF) opens today with the red-carpet world premiere of
Hollywood-cum-Bollywood starrer "Love Sonia", a film by the
Oscar-nominated producer of "Life Of Pi", David Womark.
4.The International
Olympic Day is celebrated all around the world for commemorating the birth of
modern Olympic games on June 23, 1894 at Sorbonne in Paris.
5.Researchers at the
University of Michigan (UM) in the US have developed the world’s smallest
computer “Michigan Micro Mote”. It measures just 0.3 mm and could help find new
ways to monitor and treat cancer.
6.Indian swimmer
Sandeep Sejwal clinched the gold medal in men’s 50 meter breaststroke event at
the Singapore National Swimming Championships in Singapore on June 23, 2018.
7.Kim Jong-pil (92) has
passed away in Seoul, South Korea on June 23, 2018. He also served as prime
minister twice from 1971–1975 and from 1998–2000.
8.Gujarat Chief
Minister Vijay Rupani has launched the Rs 870-crore pilot project of
Suryashakti Kisan Yojana (SKY) where farmers can generate electricity using
solar energy and sell the surplus to the electric grid.
9.Maharashtra government
recently began enforcing a ban on plastic, a decision it announced in March.
The government had given the manufacturers, distributors, and consumers a
period of three months to dispose their existing stock and come up with
alternatives to plastic usage.
10.Mongolia has launched
construction of its first strategically important oil refinery funded by India
in southern Dornogovi province.
11.India and Bangladesh have agreed to institute a Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) as an annual feature between the two Navies. It is aimed to consolidate bilateral defense relations between India and Bangladesh and to explore new avenues for naval cooperation.
