Current affairs notes on 18/6/2018

1.Meghalaya government will implement the Centre's Ayushman Bharat - National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM), the state would merge its own Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) with the AB-NHPM.

2.India has agreed to open 4 new air gateways to Nepal in the eastern and western part of the country, aimed to facilitate international traffic. The eastern part would connect Patna and Kolkata of India with Kathmandu and Dhaka while the western part would connect Kathmandu with Delhi. The routes will be operational till 2019.

3.SAARC Development Fund will soon be launching a social enterprise development programme (SEDP) to fund 80 entities annually across the 8-member states including India. SDF would create access to financial services which can boost job creation, raise income, reduce vulnerability and increase investments in human capital in - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka (SAARC members). 

4.The fourth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog was held under the chairmanship of the PM Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. It was attended by 23 Chief Ministers and the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, apart from Union Ministers, who are ex-officio members and special invitees.

5.Ivan Duque Marquez , the Conservative political newcomer, has been elected as the new President of Colombia .

6.The Centre will set up the country’s biggest data centre in Bhopal with a capacity to host five lakh virtual servers. It will be set up by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).This will be the fifth National Data Centre after the ones at Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune.

7.Central Water Commission (CWC), India’s apex technical organization in the field of Water Resources, has entered into a Collaboration Agreement with Google for flood forecasting. This initiative is likely to help crisis management agencies to deal extreme hydrological events in a better manner.

8.’Cop connect’ mobile application developed by Telangana police for their internal communication purpose. It has been developed on the lines of WhatsApp. Police have developed this app keeping in view the safety of their information besides having hassle free communication.
