1.Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) heaviest satellite so far - the GSAT-11 (weighing over 5.7 tonnes i.e., 5,700-kg)- which the space agency had cleared for launch in June, will take off a spaceport in French Guiana on 30 November.

2.The world's first-ever thermal battery plant was unveiled in Andhra Pradesh by the state's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Manufactured by the Bharat Energy Storage Technology Private Limited (BEST), the first-of-its-kind batteries will aim to boost renewable sources of energy production and reduce the dependence on non-renewable fossil fuel-based energy generation.

3.'Maitree' is a joint military exercise between Indian Army and Royal Thailand Army which is running on in Thailand. It will emphasize on joint counter insurgency and counter-terrorist operations.

4.Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar has won the 2018 Fiji International title. It is his first win on the European Tour.

5. Netherlands team has won the 14th edition of Women’s Hockey World Cup 2018 at London on August 5.India finished the tournament at the 8th spot.

6.Ajay Data is the first Indian to have been selected as a member of ccNSO of  ICANN ( Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) and he will be representing India at a global level. ICANN coordinates and ensures the smooth and secure functioning of the cybernetic framework.


7.Tech Mahindra and the Telangana government have signed an agreement to establish a Blockchain district in Hyderabad, a first-of-its-kind Centre of Excellence for Blockchain in India.Blockchain is a new-age technology that helps in record-keeping through the use of cryptography, a secure method of writing digital codes. 

8.IWAI recently held a large public outreach along Ganga for Jal Marg Vikas Project. The Jal Marg Vikas Project seeks to facilitate plying of vessels with capacity of 1,500-2,000 tonnes in the Haldia- Varanasi stretch of the River Ganga.

9.NITI Aayog has identified 117 districts as ‘Aspirational Districts’ for Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), launched in 2013 aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions.

10.8888 Uprising was a series of nationwide protests, marches and civil unrest in Burma (Myanmar) that peaked in August  8,1988. August 8 marks the 30th anniversary of this uprising.

11.IIT Madras has developed the first indigenous microprocessors ‘RISECREEK’ under Project Shakti.The Shakti project is not aimed at only building processors, It also aims to build high speed interconnects for servers and supercomputers.

12.Chandrayaan 2 mission has been postponed again from its proposed October launch to January 2019. Chandrayaan-2 includes soft-landing on Moon and moving a rover on its surface. It is an advanced version of Chandrayaan-1 mission. 

13.Uakitite is a new mineral discovered in a meteorite in Eastern Russia.98% of the Uakit meteorite is an iron alloy called kamacite.
