1.India and Germany have signed an agreement on
financial and technical cooperation focusing on sustainable urban development
and renewable energy.
2.The US has elevated India's status in the export control
regime and designated it as a Strategic Trade Authorization-1 (STA-1) country.
This will allow India to buy more advanced and sensitive technologies from
America. India is the only South Asian country to be on the list.
3.China successfully launched The
Gaofen-11 satellite, an optical remote sensing satellite, as part of its
high-resolution Earth observation project, It will also provide data for
the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
4.The
Madhya Pradesh government will observe the 2018 Independence Day eve as Shahid
Samman Divas to honour martyrs.
5.The 2018 BRICS Film Festival took place in Durban, South
Africa, along with the International Durban Film Festival (DIFF) from 22-27th
July. 'Newton'The Indian film bagged the best film award at the 3rd
edition of the BRICS Film Festival 2018.
6.The first ‘Nepal-India Think Tank’ Summit was held in
Kathmandu on July 31 to foster greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing
among the think tanks of the two countries.
7.‘State Energy Efficiency Preparedness Index’ has been released by Bureau of
Energy Efficiency (BEE), the nationwide Index is a joint effort of the
NITI Aayog and BEE. Performing states are Andhra Pradesh, Kerala,
Maharashtra, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
8.India has unveiled a tagline and a tricolour logo for
geographical indication (GI) certified products. A GI is primarily an
agricultural, natural or a manufactured product (handicrafts and industrial
goods) originating from a definite geographical territory. A total of 320 products have been conferred the GI
status in India so far.
