1.Former England captain David Beckham will receive the
UEFA President's Award for his contribution to football.
2.Odisha for the First time is Organizing the 2018 Men's
Hockey World Cup, which will be the 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup field
hockey tournament. It is scheduled to be held from 28 November to 16 December
2018, at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India.
3.Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and
Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) 4th summit will be held at Kathmandu in Nepal on August 30
and 31.Nepal is the current chairperson of BIMSTEC.
4.Former West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi was
awarded the 24th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award on the occasion of 74th
birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, in New Delhi.
5.The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Karnataka has
emerged as the second fastest growing airport in the world in terms of
actual growth in the number of passengers.
6.In
Rajasthan, India’s largest Startup incubation and acceleration- Bhamashah
Techno Hub – was inaugurated by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in Jaipur On
August 23, 2018. The purpose of the techno hub is to create an ecosystem for
promoting state’s youth for entrepreneurship.
7.The
Maharashtra government has appointed actor Raveena Tandon as the brand
ambassador of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) to spread environmental
awareness among citizens.
8.Iran
has launched its first state-of-the-art domestic fighter jet “Kowsar” at a
defense show in Tehran on August 23, 2018. The jet is a fourth-generation
fighter, with advanced avionics and multi-purpose radar.
9.Kuldip
Nayar (95), the Veteran journalist, author and human rights activist, has
passed away in New Delhi on August 23, 2018. 'Beyond The Lines' is
the autobiography of Kuldip Nayar .
