1.The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the 'One District One Product' Summit in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The special emphasis was laid on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). After the agricultural sector, most people find employment in this sector. 

2.The government reappointed Ram Sewak Sharma as Chairman of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

3.NITI Aayog hosted an Investors' Conference at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra for the Holistic Development of Islands along with the respective UT Administration. The Conference was inaugurated by Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog. 

4.Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will be the flag bearer for the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games 2018. 

5.World Biofuel Day is observed every year on August 10 to create awareness about the importance of non-fossil fuels as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels.

6.HRD ministry launched a project named Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds' (SWAYAM), aims to provide one integrated platform and portal for online courses. 

7.Justice Gita Mittal has been sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. She is the first woman Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir High Court.

8.Rekha Sharma from Haryana has been appointed the new chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW). The NCW is a statutory body of the Government of India (GoI), which represent the rights of women in India and to provide a voice for their issues and concerns.

9.76th anniversary of Quit India movement was observed on August 8th, 2018.On August 8, 1942, Mahatma Gandhi made a Do or Die call in his Quit India speech which was delivered in Bombay at the Gowalia Tank Maidan. 

10.India’s rank on the Global Innovation Index (GII) has improved from 60 in 2017 to 57 in 2018. GII is jointly released by Cornell University, INSEAD and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). Switzerland is at the top.
