1.Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship  Dharmendra Pradhan laid the foundation stone of India's first greenfield Skill Training Institute in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.The aim of the state-of-the-art institute will be to impart training to the trainers & create a skill-based ecosystem to meet expectations of the industry. 

2.State Bank of India (SBI) announced that it would launch a kisan Mela outreach program for farmers to help in imparting financial literacy to the farmers, on July 18,2018 .The bank will also issue Kisan Credit Card (KCC) with 10% of enhancement on their credit limit. 

3.abivaka - "the one who scores" (in Russian) is a wolf who radiates fun, charm and confidence was the Official mascot of FIFA World Cup 2018.

4.India's star shuttler PV Sindhu (seeded second) suffered a defeat to fourth seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the Thailand Open in Bangkok.

5.Nelson Mandela International Day 2018 is observed internationally on 18th July. This year marks 100 years since the birth of Nelson Mandela (18 July 1918). 

6.Indian Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has clinched a gold medal at the Sotteville Athletics Meet in France. 

7.The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has partnered with Google to monitor the impacts of human activity on global ecosystems by using sophisticated online tools. 

8.England’s Harry Kane won the World Cup Golden Boot Award at FIFA 2018 Russia world cup, Croatia captain Luka Modric won the Golden Ball award for the World Cup’s best player ,Kylian Mbappe of France won the Young Player of the Tournament Award, Belgium’s Thibaut Courtois won the Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper.(Sports special)

9.India has the world’s fifth largest cultivated area under genetically modified (GM) crops. However, this entire area is under single crop – cotton. 

10.The Union Government has constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of Anil Swarup ( former Secretary of School Education) to suggest measures to strengthen National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS).

11.The Transport Ministry has proposed to dispense with fitness certificate for new vehicles and make it mandatory to have vehicle tracking system and FASTags for electronic toll collection. FASTags is a device that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid account linked to it.
