1.India's Muhammad Anas Yahiya broke his own national
record to win the 400 metres race at the Cena Noveho Mesta nad Metuji meet in
Czech Republic. He became the second Indian sprinter to reach the finals
of the one-lap event at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast after Milkha
Singh.
2.The All India Football
Federation (AIFF) named Indian football Captain Sunil
Chhetri as the AIFF Player of the Year 2017. Kamala Devi bagged the 2017
AIFF Woman Player of the Year.
3.India has planned to buy
environmentally friendly TaxiBots, which can be used at the airports, developed
by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). These Pilot-controlled and
semi-robots will allow pilots to switch on the plane's engines only when it
reaches the starting point of the runway hence reducing carbon emissions.
4.NABARD launched the Centre
for Climate Change in lucknow. It
is for designing climate related projects
and take up collaborative studies and action research projects in area of
climate change.
5.The National Aeronautics and
Space Administration (NASA) has launched the ‘Remote Sensing Toolkit’ to
promote commercial use of satellite data. It is an online toolkit launched
with an aim to make it easier for users to find, analyse and utilise the
relevant satellite data for their research, business projects or conservation
efforts.
6.Odisha Police has launched a
drive to bust an international syndicate that peddles “endangered” pangolin,
one of the world’s most illegally traded mammals. Pangolin is only scaly mammal on the
planet. According to Convention
on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), it is also the most
illegally traded vertebrate within its class (Mammalia).
