1.The 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is
being organized by Ministry of External Affairs in association with the State
Government of Uttar Pradesh in January 2019 (Jan. 21 - 23, 2019). Theme of 2019
event is "Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India". Pravasi
Bhartiya Divas is annually celebrated on January 9 to mark the contribution of
Overseas Indian community towards their homeland.
2.Tripura government to appoint Dipa Karmakar Indian Gymnast, gold medal winner in the prestigious FIG World Challenge Cup in Mersin in Turkey as brand ambassador of the state.
3.HDFC securities announced launch of Mutual Funds
transactional capabilities on Facebook Messenger through their virtual
assistant, Arya.
4.Google has announced 'Launchpad Accelerator India', a mentorship program that would aim to support Indian start-ups that deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning to build solutions for local needs.
5.For the first time, Indian Navy’s Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft Boeing P- 8I (Poseidon Eight India) from Indian Naval Ship (INS) Rajali has inducted for participating in the 26th edition of RIMPAC-18, the Rim of the Pacific Multinational Naval exercise.This is the first time ever that an Indian Naval aircraft has traversed so far east into the Pacific. RIMPAC is the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise.
6.In a bid to eliminate the need for manual scavenging, the Centre has launched Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention to be held on October 18 this year. It will be a first-of-its-kind International Sanitation Convention.
7.Global Innovation Index 2018 has
placed India at the 57th position
among 130 countries. Switzerland is at the top. Netherlands
follows at second place and Sweden at third.
